As a Spanish Language Instructor, my teaching philosophy is informed by the sociocultural theory, which posits that learning is a socially constructed process that occurs through interactions with others and the environment. In this context, my teaching practice is centered on providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and personal growth. I believe that all students have the potential to excel when given the right tools and guidance, and it is my role as an educator to create an environment that promotes their success.
I recognize the value of diversity in the classroom and strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed and secure to express themselves. I believe that diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives enriches the learning experience and prepares students to become responsible and engaged global citizens.
To promote an inclusive learning environment, I prioritize the implementation of Universal Design for Learning, ensuring that my teaching methods are accessible and adaptable to diverse learners' needs. In my classroom, I implement the communicative language teaching approach, which prioritizes the development of communicative competence and the ability to use language in authentic contexts. Therefore, I focus on creating opportunities for students to use the target language in meaningful which seek the development of language skills such the ability to negotiate meaning.
